Vision and Mission
The vision of WCC Kids is to raise a generation of kids to be lifelong followers of Christ, committed to authentically worshipping God, joyfully connecting others with Him, and generously caring for the world.
Connecting
At the core of this vision of worship, community, and care is “connecting.” Worship can be seen as connecting kids with God, community as connecting kids with others, and care as connecting kids with the world. Furthermore, because parents are the primary spiritual nurturers of their children, we believe that our mission as WCC Kids is twofold: to connect kids with God and equip families to do the same.
WCC Kids’ Core Values
W = WHOLE FAMILY-FOCUSED (Deut 6:4-9; Ps 78:5-8)
We value parents as the primary spiritual nurturers of their kids. We provide opportunities for parents to be encouraged and equipped to nurture their kids spiritually. Being Whole family-focused means that we…
- Program mindfully, leaving space for families to be together
- Promote and plan All-Family worship services
C = CHRIST-CENTERED (John 1:1-18; Col 1:15-20; Heb 1:1-4)
We value God’s Word as the primary source of curriculum. The accounts of the life, death, and resurrection of Jesus Christ are recorded in the infallible Word of God, the Bible. Christ’s sacrifice stands at the center of the biblical narrative and He reigns as the Head of the church, so we strive to connect kids with Christ through connecting them with God’s Word. Being Christ-centered means that we…
- Teach the Scriptures with emphasis being placed on the centrality of Christ
- Consistently preach the gospel of Jesus Christ and provide opportunities for kids and parents to respond to the offer of salvation through confession and identify with the church through baptism
C = CROSS-CULTURAL (Gen 12; Jn 1:14; Acts 15; Eph 2:14-22; Rev 5:9-10)
We value cross-cultural ministry because God has purposed to include all ethnic groups in His eternal Kingdom and Jesus’ ministry crossed cultures. Just as we have been the beneficiaries of cross-cultural ministry, we seek to build bridges for the gospel that cross cultural divides. Being Cross-cultural means that we…
- Embrace the unified diversity of the body of Christ
- Reach out to all of our neighbors, no matter their race, ethnicity, or culture
- Pray for and give toward the advancement of the Kingdom of God around the world
K = KID-SIZED (Matt 18:1-6, 19:14; 1 Cor 3:2; Heb 5:12)
Jesus, in His earthly ministry, held children in unusually high regard, inviting them to come to Him without hindrance. We value children and seek to remove any hindrances that would keep them from learning about God and believing in Jesus for salvation. Being Kid-sized means that we…
- Teach to a child’s developmental stage and relational maturity
- Do not expect adult-like maturity in our kids, but do encourage the natural maturation processes in age-appropriate ways
- Make our learning environments safe and fun
