WCC’s Supported Missionaries

Ruth Cowan

Wycliffe Bible Translators, Florida

Since late 2011 after I returned from Peru, I have served in Wycliffe’s U.S. headquarters mobilizing prayer for Bible translation projects around the world. My specific role is to research and write prayer requests for translation projects (NTs, OTs or full Bibles) within 3 years of completion. We have around 300 projects in our materials called “The Finish Line,” representing over 70 partners. Praise God — all these groups are closer to having God’s Word in their heart language! BUT there are still over 2,000 language groups without one single word of Scripture in their language. If you would like to join the roughly 22,000 people signed up to regularly pray for one of those language groups, you can do so online at: www.wycliffe.org/pray . You can also sign up to be a Wycliffe Prayer Partner there and receive a monthly download edition of “The Finish Line” and other prayer helps.

Eric & Lyn Taylor

Makanalani, Kauai, Hawaii

Makanalani Kids exists solely to give life-changing camps at no charge to youth who would otherwise not have the opportunity to experience such a camp. These free camps, located on 130 acres of beautiful Northshore Kauai, inspire our young visitors to leave with the seeds of change knowing that life can be different. By working alongside local churches and organizations, we are able to provide specialized camp experiences for each youth group. These partnerships are essential as we partner to shape the lives of kids and teens. Makanalani provides a peaceful environment that allows people to connect with God through exploring His creation.

Last year 2020, they launched the Africa Mission Training Institute to provide competency and wholistic based formal and non-formal training for church leaders and the youth with emphasis on the Church as the agent of community transformation, spiritually, socially, and economically.

Keziah Mortiz

InterVarsity, Long Beach, California

Beach InterVarsity is an active student movement committed to knowing and experiencing God, reaching the entire campus with the love of Jesus Christ, and raising up leaders who will change the world. We hope to see every gender, ethnicity, major, fraternity, sorority, interest group, denomination, etc. on campus become transformed by the unrelenting love of Jesus. We long to see thriving communities of faith planted in every campus sub-culture – communities that believe that to be Christian isn’t to give up who we are but rather to step into the fullness of who God has made us to be.

Ken Lippold

Christ Church, Los Angeles, California

We are planting Christ Church Los Angeles in Northeast Los Angeles with a vision to reach post-Christian people who live, work and play there. The heartbeat of our church is personal renewal in the gospel of Jesus Christ done through one on one evangelism / discipleship and hospitality. Our neighborhoods (Atwater Village, Silver Lake and Echo Park) are hard to reach places filled with an incredible mix of homeless and Uber-wealthy; immigrants and hip social influencers; blue collar workers and entertainers. It creates a unique context in which to bring the gospel, but we’re already seeing fruit with nearly a dozen non-Christians attending our Sunday gatherings.

Jared Hall

Fellowship of Christian Athletes, California

Jared Hall has what some might call an unlikely mission-field. He can hardly believe what the Lord has done since way back in 2007 when he first joined the Orange County staff of Fellowship of Christian Athletes (FCA), the largest Christian sports organization in America. Partnering with Christian students and coaches to help them reach their schools with the gospel, FCA uses the medium of sports to draw many to Christ who have never stepped inside a church.
