Follow-up Questions from Sunday:

Getting to Know You:

When you think of the word “missionary” what do you think of?

Quick Review: Looking back at your notes from this week’s teaching, was there anything you heard for the first time or that caught your attention, challenged, or confused you?

Digging Deeper:

Definition of Missionary: “A person who, in response to God’s call and gifting, leaves his/her comfort zone and crosses cultural, geographic, or other barriers to proclaim the Gospel and  live out a Christian witness in obedience to the Great Commission.” – North American Missionary Board.

1.Read John 1:1-5, 14, and Philippians 2:5-11. From the definition of a missionary above would you say that Jesus is a missionary? Why or why not?

2.If you were to describe Jesus’ mission on earth to another person, what would you say? How has Jesus’ mission affected your life lately?

3. As a believer, receiver, and follower of Jesus, what would you say is our “mission” on earth?

4.In Jesus’ Sermon on the Mount, He said that we are “the light of the world” and “the salt of the earth” (Matthew 5:13-16). What do you think He is teaching us about our mission on earth? How have you seen this played out in others’ lives as well as your life, as of late?

5.What does Jesus tell us to do in His Great Commission found in Matthew 28:19-20? How do you personally apply theses verses to your life?

6.If we all are on mission living out Jesus’ Kingdom principles on earth and proclaiming Him, how would you define the difference between us and a “missionary”?

7.What do you think is the biggest challenge missionaries are facing in today’s world?

Prayer: Pray this week for our missionaries that they would have a fresh filling of the power of the Holy Spirit to continue to do what they do.
