My soul glorifies the Lord
47 and my spirit rejoices in God my Savior,
48 for he has been mindful of the humble state of his servant. From now on all generations will call me blessed,
49 for the Mighty One has done great things for me— holy is his name.
50 His mercy extends to those who fear him, from generation to generation.
51 He has performed mighty deeds with his arm; he has scattered those who are proud in their inmost thoughts.
52 He has brought down rulers from their thrones but has lifted up the humble.
53 He has filled the hungry with good things but has sent the rich away empty.
54 He has helped his servant Israel, remembering to be merciful
55 to Abraham and his descendants forever, just as he promised our ancestors.”
Often called “the Magnificat”, this is Mary’s song of praise to God for all He has done and will do for her and for His people. Have you ever tried to write your own Magnificat – your prayer or song of thanks to God for all He has done for you and for others, as Mary wrote hers? Spend some time this week reflecting on your life and all of God’s blessings that He has poured upon you and be grateful.
Writing out your personal testimony exercise:
Take the time to write out your personal testimony:
How has God, Jesus, the Holy Spirit, Salvation, Grace/Works, Sin, Satan, etc. impacted/affected your life? Use Scripture references. What Biblical truths did God use to draw you to himself?
Your personal story. Where have you been? How did the Lord call you to Himself? How is your identity continuing to be shaped in the image of the Lord? What is your present level of intimacy with Him?
Draw a Personal Spiritual Timeline of people and circumstances that God used to bring you to Himself.
