The Profile of a False Teacher

In Second Peter chapter two, Peter warns the believers to be on the lookout for false teachers of God and he describes the profile of these people so that they can be identified.

How do you spot a false prophet/teacher?

1. Listen to what they say about Jesus.

2. The focal point of false teaching will be Jesus and twisting who He is and what He did for us!

How else do you spot a false Prophet/teacher?

3. Look at how they live their lives.

4. They are greedy.

5. They exploit and use people

6. They despise authority.

7. They are arrogant.

8. They are immoral.

9. They have eyes of adultery.

17 These people are springs without water and mists driven by a storm. Blackest darkness is reserved for them. 18 For they mouth empty, boastful words and, by appealing to the lustful desires of the flesh, they entice people who are just escaping from those who live in error. 19 They promise them freedom, while they themselves are slaves of depravity—for “people are slaves to whatever has mastered them.”
