Follow-up Questions from Sunday’s Message:
Review:
Looking back on last Sunday’s message and your notes, what was the most meaningful part for you?
Digging Deeper:
1. Read Deuteronomy 6:4; Luke 5:8; Matthew 16:15-16; 2 Peter 1:1. Judaism is founded on monotheism (One God). With this understanding, who did Peter understand Jesus to be? What has been your journey in trying to understand the nature of God in the Trinity? Do you think Peter totally understood the theology of the Trinity or do you think he still had questions as he lived on this earth?
2. Read 2 Peter 1:2-3, 3:18. Peter believes that a growing personal knowledge of Jesus for our lives is important. Why do you think this is? How have you seen this to be true for your life?
3. Read 2 Peter 1:3. What do you think Peter is saying in this verse? What do you think the “everything” is that God has given us for a godly life?
4. Read 2 Peter 1:4. What great and precious promises that God has made to you do you most treasure?
5. Read 2 Peter 1:5-7. Of these seven virtues, which two do you possess in the greatest measure? How can you grow in one of the other qualities?
6. Read 2 Peter 1:8-11. Peter warns us to be careful of getting lazy in our faith– “spiritual drift”–and becoming ineffective and unproductive. What do you think are some of the greatest dangers in letting this happen? Has this ever happened to you? What did you learn from it?
Taking it Home:
Pray that God will help you to grow closer to Jesus during this pandemic.
