Beginning Sunday, January 22, Mike Cranford will be teaching an adult Sunday school class from 12:15-1:30 PM in Building B1-4. Bring in food provided by our hospitality ministry in the courtyard!
This class will match the Sunday morning sermon series The Road to Emmaus and Understanding the Word of God. Each week, we will be covering one literary genre in the Bible that matches the topic of the Sunday morning message and learning how to interpret it and apply it to our lives in today’s world. God speaks powerfully from the Scriptures, but he does so through historical circumstances and language that isn’t always clear. This class will give you principles that will help you understand the text and hear the Holy Spirit speak in all the different types of literature in the Bible – Psalms (songs), Wisdom Literature, Prophecy, Gospels, Epistles, and Apocalyptic, among others.
As part of the class, we will learn effective ways to apply the Bible to our lives. That means understanding how God communicates from ancient cultures to people living in today’s modern, technological world. God’s word provides powerful applications that speak directly to where we are at. If you’re anxious to hear God speak to your life, come join us for this class.
Pastor Michael Cranford has a heart for discipleship. In addition to serving at Woodbridge, he is currently Adjunct Professor of Philosophy at Concordia University in Irvine, California. He holds a Master of Divinity from Talbot School of Theology, and an M.A. and Ph.D. in Religion and Social Ethics from the University of Southern California.
