Follow-up Questions from Sunday:
Quick Review:
Looking back at your notes from this week’s teaching, was there anything you heard for the first time or that caught your attention, challenged, or confused you?
Digging Deeper:
1. As a group read through Psalm 139.
2. What do you worry about the most and why do you think that is?
3. We read in verses 1-6 that God knows your every thought, every action, every word. If God is watching out for you (v.5) and is always with you, why do Christians still experience fear and anxiety? Where do you think this comes from?
4. When a Christian backslides, the common response is to hide from God, especially if there’s a sin that’s hard to give up. In what ways do Christians try to hide from God? Read vs. 7-12. Why is hiding pointless according to King David?
5. Read vs. 13-16. King David saw God’s creative design and purpose upon his life, even when while in his mother’s womb. How should this truth influence how we see our life today?
6. Read vs. 17-18. King David’s worship and meditations on God’s attributes left him in awe and wonder of God’s greatness. How has this message series on God’s attributes drawn you closer to God?
7. Read vs. 19-24. King David had an emotional episode that made him vent his most hateful feelings to God, and he felt safe doing that with Him. Why? Why should God be a safe place to vent? How does King David resolve his vent?
8. Read Matthew 28:19-20. Jesus is telling His disciples to go into all the world with His authority; He is promising to be with them. In other words, His purpose is accompanied by His presence. How does knowing Jesus is with you change your perspective about taking on His work? What obstacles keep you from His purposes for you?
Prayer:
Pray for each other in your group that God will remind you of His constant Presence to give you peace and empower you to do the things He’s called you to do through His Spirit.
Taking it Home: If worry changes nothing (except for our health), and God can change everything, why then do we worry more than we pray?
