1. The people God uses – “But You”
a) Notice the conjunction. – “But”
b) Notice the personal pronoun –“You”
2. The power promised – “You will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you”
a) You first must be cleansed.
b) You must have a desire to hear God’s Word and obey it.
3. The program announced –“You will be my witnesses”
4. The place designated –“In Jerusalem, in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth”.
Growth Group Questions.
Getting a right life focus
Icebreaker: Do you have an alarm system in your house or car. Has it ever scared off a burglar? Read Ezekiel 33:7-9. What message do you think God has for the people where you live? What is your role in telling them about the Gospel?
1. Read Acts 1: 8 – Discuss why this passage is often used to mobilize Christians to share the Gospel with others.
2. Share what you think this verse teaches us about the role of the Holy Spirit in our Christian life and responsibility of witnessing to Jesus.
3. Share what it is that may be holding you back from witnessing to Jesus.
4. Read Matthew 28:20. Share what are some of the practical ways you can be a witness in our contemporary society just like the Apostles did in their time.
5. Discuss how you can be more strategic in witnessing in line with the Great Commission and the promise of Acts 1:8.
6. Give some examples of where you have been a witness to Jesus and what were the results.
Pray as a group for each other that you may be more effective in your witness for Jesus. Pray that God will give you a chance to witness to Jesus this week.
