What does Jesus do in the Upper Room:

  3. Jesus commands His disciples to be known as a loving people. (John 13:34)
  4. The Love Jesus is commanding His disciples to do is described in 1 Corinthians 13.

Follow-up Questions from Sunday:

Getting to Know You:

What was a meal that you had that really impacted or changed your life?

Quick Review:

Looking back at your notes from this week’s teaching, was there anything you heard for the first time or that caught your attention, challenged, or confused you?

Digging Deeper:
  1. Read John 13:33-38. How would you describe what is going on here?
  2. How would you describe the tone, emotions, and feelings of Jesus and Peter in these verses?
  3. How do you define what a command is?
  4. When you read John 13:34-35, 14:15, 14:21, 15:10, 15:12, 15:14, and 15:17; what do they all have in common? What do you think Jesus is trying to say to his disciples in these  verses?
  5. When you read 1 Corinthians 13 and how Paul describes “what love is and isn’t,” what is most illuminating and revealing to you?
  6. Looking at the descriptions of “perfect love” in verses 4-7, in which one of these are you the strongest and which ones is Jesus still helping you to grow in?
  7. What do you think Paul is trying to say about love from verse 11?
  8. Where would you say you are on the journey of learning how to love people in truth the way Jesus teaches us too? (Ephesians 4:15)
Taking it Home:

Spend some time this week meditating on 1 Corinthians 13 and ask Jesus to empower you to love people better so that the world will know that Jesus is working in your life.
