Follow-up Questions from Sunday:
Quick Review:
Looking back at your notes from this week’s teaching, was there anything you heard for the first time or that caught your attention, challenged, or confused you?
Introduction question for groups:
Go around and introduce yourselves, share how your holidays went, where you would say you are in your spiritual journey with Jesus, and share your expectations for this group this next semester.
Digging Deeper:
1. Read Ephesians 1:17-19. What is it that Paul prays for in these passages? When were you first “enlightened” to your true identity in Christ? How did this happen and how did it change, or is changing, the way you think about yourself and live?
2. What does Ephesians 1:18-19; 6:10 say the child of God needs to do with the power of Christ? How have you applied this power in your life?
3. In Ephesians 6, Paul says that the devil schemes against us and Jesus give us amazing insight into the goals and nature of our battle with Satan in John 10:10; 8:44. How do you think Satan has lied to you in your life and what lies do you think he would like you to believe today?
4. In verses 11-14, how many times does Paul tell us that we need to stand? Why do you think this is so important? What do you think will happen to a believer who doesn’t “stand”?
5. The armor of God is applying the power of Christ in our lives through truth, righteousness, peace, faith, salvation, the Scriptures, and prayer. Which one of these do you think is the most important?
Taking it Home:
Read Ephesians 1 this week and try to list all the things God says you are because of Jesus in your life.
Memorize Ephesians 1:18
Spend some time this week reflecting on and praying over who you are as a child of God. Ask God to help you understand who you truly are in His eyes. May you see yourself more clearly and live your life more powerfully as His child.
Prayer request:
Pray for your group that the eyes of their hearts would be enlightened to know God better and to know their true identity in Christ and how to apply the power of Christ in their lives through the Armor of God.
