Follow-up Questions from Sunday’s Message:
Intro question:
Who would you say is one of the most attractive celebrities that you have ever seen?
Digging Deeper:
1. In 1 Samuel chapters 10-15, we read about Saul becoming the first king of Israel and then God rejecting him over his actions. Read 1 Samuel 16:1-7. How would you summarize what is happening in these verses? How do you visualize this playing out?
2. In verse 7, God gives a broad observation about humanity and the contrast in how we judge people verses how God judges people. Do you think this is true and how do you think this plays out in our society today?
3. Read 1 Samuel 16:1-13. How would you summarize what is happening in these verses?
4. From these verses, what can we learn and what do you imagine David’s home/upbringing was like?
5. When you read 1 Samuel 13:13-14; 1 Samuel 16:1 and 1 Samuel 16:7, what do these verses say about God’s journey in finding another king? How do you imagine God went about this and what do you think He saw in young David?
6. When you compare Saul and David what would you say are the biggest differences in character and how they lived out their lives?
7. In Psalm 78:70-72, it says that David led his people with “integrity of heart”. What do you think this means?
Personal application:
2 Chronicles 16:9 says, “For the eyes of the LORD move to and fro throughout the earth that He may strongly support those whose heart is completely His.” When the eyes of the Lord falls upon your heart what do you think He sees? What do you want Him to see?
Prayer:
For this week, continue to pray David’s prayer of Psalm 139: 23-24 and listen to what God says about your life.
