The Rapture
Our world today is looking more and more like the world the Scriptures said it’s supposed to look like before Jesus returns! This morning we will be looking into the mystery that surrounds His return and what is next on the prophetic calendar, the rapture of the church.
1 Thessalonians 4:16-18 (NIV)
16 For the Lord himself will come down from heaven, with a loud command, with the voice of the archangel and with the trumpet call of God, and the dead in Christ will rise first. 17 After that, we who are still alive and are left will be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air. And so we will be with the Lord forever. 18 Therefore encourage one another with these words.
Some questions to ponder this week:
1. What was something you learned or what particularly stood out to you from the sermon on Sunday?
2. How does God’s patience benefit us? What frustrations does God’s patience produce?
3. Close your eyes and try to imagine being “caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air. And so we will be with the Lord forever.” Can you sense the joy, relief and love for what the Savior has done for us?
4. How does it make you feel to think of being part of what happens when “the trumpet will sound?” (1 Corinthians 15:52) How does the hope of the Resurrection comfort you?
5. When you think of the mystery of the 2nd coming of Jesus, why do you think he lets us to know somethings about His coming again but he leaves other questions unanswered?
6. What motivates us to “stand firm” in these days? Is it fear? God’s anger? Worry of being left out? Love from God? Love for God?
7. What do you need to do in your life to be better prepared for Christ’s return?
