Follow-up Questions from Sunday:
Quick Review:
Looking back at your notes from this week’s teaching, was there anything you heard for the first time or that caught your attention, challenged, or confused you?
Digging Deeper:
1. Read aloud Matthew 1:18-19. How do you picture Joseph’s reaction played out when Mary told him she was 3 months pregnant by the Holy Spirit? How do you think you would have responded?
2. Read aloud Matthew 1:20-25; Isaiah 7:14. In the dream, what did the angel tell Joseph was the mission of this child? How do you picture Joseph telling Mary about this dream and what do you think was her response to it?
3. According to verses 24-25, Joseph brought Mary into his house when she was six months pregnant and they didn’t consummate their marriage until after Jesus was born. What does this say to you about the character and self- discipline of Joseph?
4. Read aloud Matthew 2:13-15. What do these verses reveal to you about Joseph’s character as a father and a husband? Why do you think the angel went to Joseph with this information and not Mary?
5. When in your life have you had to leave your comfort zone in order to follow God’s will for your life? What emotions did you go through and what did God teach you?
Prayer:
Pray that God will help you be willing to leave your comfort zone to follow the Lord.
