Sermon Notes:
Mary’s advice for us in following the Lord:
1. When God asks you to do something, deal with your fears and say “yes”.
2. When God asks us to do something, He will give us His Spirit of power to do it.
3. You are more than you know.
4. We are all servants of the Lord.
Review:
Looking back on last Sunday’s message and your notes, what was the most memorable part for you?
Digging Deeper:
1. What do you think are some of the things a future bride-to-be is dealing with right before her wedding?
2. How do you think Luke 1:26-37 could complicate Mary’s future wedding plans? What would she have to deal with if she said “yes”?
3. How did Mary’s life change in the short-term and long-term because of her answer in Luke 1:38?
4. After this happened, why do you think Mary took off to see her relative Elizabeth
in Judea, as we read in Luke 1:39-40?
5. How do you think Mary was encouraged after what happened in Luke 1:41-45?
6. How does Mary’s life encourage you today to fight your fears and follow the Lord?
7. What was the greatest interruption and invitation that you have experienced in your journey of following Jesus? What was it and were you afraid to some degree?
8. When was the last time you sensed God tapping you on the shoulder and asking you to do something for Him? What was it and how did you respond?
9. If God were to ask you to do something for Him today, what do you think it would be?
Taking it home?
Read Mary’s thoughts of praise in Luke 1:46-55. If you were to write your thoughts of praise to the Lord today, what would you say?
