Follow-up Questions from Sunday:
Getting to Know You:
What was your favorite subject in High school and what was your least?
Quick Review:
Looking back at your notes from this week’s teaching, was there anything you heard for the first time or that caught your attention, challenged, or confused you?
Digging Deeper:
- Read Mark 12:12-17. Why do you think the religious leaders wanted to publicly disgrace Jesus and “catch Him in His words”? What do you think was so dangerous about their “trap”? Why do you think they were amazed at His answer to them?
- Read Mark 12:18-28. The Sadducees didn’t believe in the resurrection and they knew Jesus did. What do you think of their question to Jesus and His answer back to them? What was Jesus’ point about life after death as he quoted Exodus3:6? What do you think they were arguing about after Jesus’ response?
- Read Mark 12:28-34. What do you think is different about this person and his question to Jesus compared to the other two? Why do you think Jesus’ opponents didn’t want to ask Him any more questions after this “clashing of the minds”? What does this tell you about His answers and about Jesus in general?
- Read 1 John 3:20, Psalm 147:5, Psalms 139:2-4. What does this tell us about God and how do you think this should affect our lives?
- Read Luke 6:46-49, Proverbs 3:5-6. If God knows everything and He is way smarter than us, then why do you think we struggle so much to follow His understanding and wisdom for our life decisions?
- In what ways have you trusted in God’s understanding about life and how do you think this has affected your life?
- What was the hardest thing you have trusted God for in your life, but in the end you were so glad you did?
