Follow-up Questions from Sunday:
Quick Review:
Looking back at your notes from this week’s teaching, was there anything you heard for the first time or that caught your attention, challenged, or confused you?
Digging Deeper:
1. Read aloud Luke 24:13-18. Why do you think these disciples left Jerusalem on Easter afternoon? If you had been in Jerusalem during Jesus’ arrest and crucifixion, how do you think you would have felt on the road to Emmaus? What do you think you would have been talking about?
2. Read aloud Luke 24:19-27. What do you think was Jesus’ intention in giving these disciples an amazing Bible Study of the O.T. concerning the prophecies of Him?
3. Read Isaiah 55:10-11. What do you think are God’s purposes in giving us His Word?
4. Read aloud Luke 24:28-32. The disciples describe how their hearts burned in them when they began to understand the Scriptures and its significance for their lives. Has this ever happened to you? Please share.
5. In verses 25-27, the disciples had knowledge of the Scriptures, but they didn’t understand them. Why do you think it’s so hard sometimes for us to understand the Bible?
6. What has your journey been like in trying to understand the Bible? How do you think this new series will help you on this journey?
Prayer:
Thank the Lord for giving you His Scriptures and ask Him to help you understand them more like He did to His disciples on the Road to Emmaus.
Taking it home:
Memorize/ Meditate on Luke 24:32. Strongly consider going to the Sunday school classes that will be offered each week after the service.
