Follow-up Questions from Sunday:
Quick Review:
Looking back at your notes from this week’s teaching, was there anything you heard for the first time or that caught your attention, challenged, or confused you?
Digging Deeper:
1. Read Colossians 3:1-4; Ephesians 2:4-6. What do these verses say about you and where you are in Christ? How do you think this is possible?
2. Read Matthew 20:20-28. What do you think the mother of James and John was asking Jesus in these verses? What do you think it meant to people back then to sit on the right and the left of a king? What does it mean for Jesus to sit at the right hand of God the Father?
3. How much contrast is there between the “clothes” of the world (vs 5-11) and those of Heaven (vs 12-17)? What does it require to take off the first and put on the second?
4. What practical difference do you think this heavenly clothing makes in the human relationships found in vs 18-24?
5. When you read the diversity of the Colossian church in vs 11, how do you think the exhortations to be rid of the worldly clothes and put on the heavenly would have been practically played out?
6. What sorts of diversity do you see in our church and how important are verses 12-14 in being the people that God has called us to be? How have you seen this practically being played out in our church and in people’s lives? In your life?
Taking it Home:
Memorize Colossians 3:1-4.
