Sermon Notes
Notes:
1. The opposite of fear in the Scriptures is courage.
2. God told Joshua to be strong and courageous three times because he was afraid.
3. When a person of God dies, nothing of God dies.
4. Courage is the willingness to take action in the presence of fear.
5. Courage is contagious.

Follow-up Questions from Sunday:
Starter Question: What is your favorite animal growing up and why?

Quick Review:
Looking back at your notes from this week’s teaching, was there anything you heard for the first time or that caught your attention, challenged, or confused you?

Digging Deeper:
1. Read aloud Joshua 1:1-11. When you read this set of Scriptures, what do you learn about God and Joshua?
2. What do you think Joshua was most afraid of at this moment of his life? Do you think his fears were rational or irrational?
3. Have someone read aloud Esther 4:12-16. What is Esther afraid of?

4. Both Joshua and Esther chose to take a leap of faith in spite of their fear. How do you think God grew them through their actions?
5. Name a few things that you fear the most in your life and why?
6. How does the presence of Jesus in your life address these fears?
7. How do you think we as followers of Jesus can become more courageous?

Prayer:
Close your group with prayer. Pray for one another and for God’s help as you seek to live unafraid and fully trusting Him for your life.

Taking it Home:
Living an unafraid life is not always about the absence of fear. Often it is learning to face our fears and trust God anyway. What do you think God is asking you to trust him with in your life today?
