Follow-up Questions from Sunday:
Quick Review:
Looking back at your notes from this week’s teaching, was there anything you heard for the first time or that caught your attention, challenged, or confused you?
Digging Deeper:
1. Read John 14:16-17. In the Upper Room, the night before Jesus went to the cross, He said that another Helper would come to the disciples from God the Father. The Greek word “Parakletos” literally means “a person summoned to one’s aid”. In what ways has Jesus been a helper to you? In what ways do you think the Holy Spirit has been a helper to you?
2. As you read John 14:16-26; John 16:12-14 what does Jesus say the Holy Spirit will help his disciples with? Why do you think this was important to the disciples back then in writing the New Testament–as well as us for today?
3. In John 16:7-11, Jesus describes how the Holy Spirit will minister to the world. How would you paraphrase what this ministry looks like?
4. Read Deuteronomy 6:4; John 1:1,14; Hebrews 1:8; Romans 9:5; Acts 5:3-4. How do you understand and try to explain the mystery of the Trinity?
5. Read 1 Thessalonians 5:23. How do you understand & try to explain the mystery of you being in essence three parts?
6. In 1 Corinthians 4:1, we are called to be good stewards of the mysteries of God. How do think we can do this with the mystery of the Trinity?
Prayer:
Pray to God the Father and thank Him for sending you “Help” in the person of Jesus and the Person of the Holy Spirit.
