Why Did Jesus Cry on Palm Sunday?
In Luke 19, as Jesus was coming into Jerusalem on Palm Sunday, He wept over the city. Why did He do this?
Jesus came to Jerusalem on Palm Sunday and cried for a city, people, and religious system that walked away from God!
The fig tree represents God’s judgment of a corrupt system.
The whole thing is a mess so God comes in human flesh to judge it and to replace it with the work of His Son on the cross!
After Good Friday:
3. The Cross becomes the place of people dealing with their sin and not the temple!
4. The Cross becomes the place where people find forgiveness from God ….not the temple.
5. The Cross becomes the place where people are accepted, justified, redeemed, and embraced by God.
Key verse:
Luke 19:41; New American Standard Bible (NASB)
41 When He approached Jerusalem, He saw the city and wept over it,
*A question to ponder this week:
When was the last time you were heartbroken for the lost?
